Fables: The Good Prince

Ah finally the 10th trade of this epic masterpiece is out! I can't emphasize enough how fucking good this series is and I'd gladly lend this to anyone (ok maybe not everyone but close friends of mine or whoever is interested) to prove my point. You've got lots of catching up to do as it's at 1oth volume but you'll be all too consumed by its rich story-telling to notice.

Here's some of my favourite artwork from cover artist, James Jean. Enjoy!

Fashion of The Christ

Was going through old episodes of Weeds and I caught this scene where Andy was tryna sell some defected clothes for the Christian community.

Silas: (reading the tee shirt) "Chris died for your sins". Is that a joke?
Andy: Yeah, on me. That's what happens when you outsource to fucking Malaysia. 8 year olds in a sweat shop can't spell for shit. See, I was trying to jump on board the whole "Red State Jesus" thing - the Fashion of the Christ and I end up with 3,000 of these. Cause if there's one thing I've learned with the Christ crowd - totally no sense of humor. Should have gone after the Jew market. At least we can take a joke.

I Will Possess Your Heart

How I wish you could see the potential,
the potential of you and me
It's like a book elegantly bound,
but in a language that you can't read

4 more weeks

With the all important date looming I couldn't help but sit down and think about what I've accomplished during my 2 years and how it has changed my friends, myself and my views on things.

My time in the Army has equipped me with a new found temper. I've had it under control ever since BMT but it does come out to play once in a while as I found out a few moments back. I've never been one to get into a direct confrontation or a fight/argument/squabble but I'm now not afraid to get into one. Sometimes I even secretly wish for one.

Maybe it's due to my vocation in camp that grants me regimental powers over everyone which has made me more numb to other people around me. But I like the new me better than Hatta pre-NS. I'd like to think that I've become more objective rather than numb although my new found temper and objectivity has been detrimental to some of my relationships these past couple of years.

Sometimes you got to be cruel to be kind you know.

My friends have changed too. Some good, some bad and I guess it's due to the fact that being in NS allows you to put away with all the inhibitions that you once had and this is especially true of many of the mcm guys who have been the subject of the matriarchal rule back then in poly.

However way you see it, NS had changed me for the better I'd like to think. But at the cost of many dressing downs, sleepless nights of duty, regiment, bouts of collective depression among fellow NSF's, low allowances, awful food and many more cons I've lost count of, has it been worth it?

Slinky Strings

I have acquire new strings and they are to die for. They're way softer than the previous ones and they're more malleable, which equals to better effects. Yes these strings are used by the likes of Slash, Mayer and Clapton which makes me feel like a better player, obviously.

Playing with the mats in camp has totally improved on my technique, not to mention how much I've gained from the tips they've given me. Unfortunately the playing has to stop tonight my guitar is out of tune and I'm really too dependant on others to get it tuned. These are exciting times for me, the one time air-guitar prodigy.

Unlucky

The decisions have gone against Arsenal during both legs. The first was a BLATANT penalty on Hleb that was waved away. The papers have attributed that to the fact that the offender and referee are neighbours but that's just awesome sensationalism.

The penalty given to Pool in the dying minutes of the second leg was a questionable one too and even if the foul was committed, it occured just outside the box. We were the better team over the course of both legs but we were very tired and I felt that it was the reason behind the concentration lapse which allowed Babel to attack, resulting in that very unfortunate foul.

Over the 3 games we had to struggle putting names up on our first team sheet due to fatigue while Pool managed to rotate their players. Yet, Arsenal managed to take on Pool and even had chances to win these matches. Mr Wenger, if you're reading this, we need more players. 2 wingers and a defensive midfielder to replace the outgoing Gilberto. Only this way can we win trophies. Else, it'll be another season of being so close yet again.

It's been a Mad Season

I feel stupid - but I know it won't last for long
I've been guessing - I coulda been guessin' wrong
You don't know me now
I kinda thought that you should somehow
Does that whole mad season got ya down

I feel stupid but it's something that comes and goes
I've been changin' - think it's funny how now one knows
We don't talk about - the little things that we do without
When that whole mad season comes around

So why ya gotta stand there
Looking like the answer now
It seems to me - you'd come around
I need you now
Do you think you can cope
You figured me out - I'm lost and I'm hopeless
Bleeding and broken - though I've never spoken
I come undone - in this mad season
